This neat old sign is located at Foothill Blvd. and Orange Avenue. The name Canyon City is in neon and the oval it sits in is ringed with neon. The word liquor is in backlit sign cans. The arrow is ringed with 43 small incandescent bulbs. It looks like some feature in the center of the arrow may be missing. The blue panels shown here were apparently painted black not long after these photos were taken. The blue arrow used to contain neon lettering that said Parking. The sign has had some restoration work done, I'm not sure when, but it was looking pretty sad in the early 2000s.

x So called "progress" has seen so many great old signs tossed on the trash heap of history that spotting one still standing and in use can brighten the day. This photo just provides a better visual clue of what the location looks like.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
