After opening as Proctor's Tavern on Foothill Blvd. in 1922 the restaurant moved to Huntington Drive in 1931. In the 1930's it got new owners and a new name, The Derby. It has changed hands several times since then but kept the Derby name. In 2011 Arcadia city officials together with the Arcadia Historical Society installed a "History Lives Here" marker, at the site.

At least a couple of people think that the ghost of George "Iceman" Woolf a former owner and famed jockey may still be lurking around the place. There seem to be a lot of ghost stories along the Main Street of America.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
