St. Raymond Church

Route 66, Amboy, CA
Phone:

East < GO > West

The St. Raymond Church was dedicated in 1951 and designed to hold about 100 people. Roy Crowl donated the land for St Raymond's Church. The church closed in 1970 and the property return to Crowl in 1981. When Albert Okura purchased the town in 2005 it included the church.

Over the years that church sat empty weather and wind took their toll on the steeple, and it collapsed as seen in this 2013 photo. In 2016 it was restored.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
