Like the rest of the town the Truxton Station dates to the early 1950's.
Over the years it has been a Whiting Brothers Station, an Enco station
and in 1983 it was a Mobil station. In 1983 the large garage building
had not yet been added and the canopy still had the traditional red and
yellow stripes banding it. . It's one of the few original businesses in
town to still be operating.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
