This former Richfield Gas Station & Garage dates to 1949 and has seen a lot of changes over the years. It was built by J. Coons and P. McMahon and owned by Joe Delgadillo for several decades. After I-40 opened it became the Degadillo Grocery.

As the nature and amount of traffic on Route 66 changed, so did the function of the building. Over the years it served as Mobile and Exxon gas stations, a Thai Restaurant and of course a gift shop. It's pretty easy to spot where the original build ends and tha later additions begin. The back edge of the canopy marks the beginning of the original building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
