The Hill Top Motel is located at 1901 E. Andy Devine Ave., John Mescheid built the motel in 1954 and its swimming pool a few years later. The land was purchased in 1953 and 20 units were built in 1954. By 1956 the motel was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Picard who sold it to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Horner in 1963. This is just one of a number of mid century motels on Route 66 in Kingman. The motel had been closed but new owners in 2018 hoped to renovate and reopen it.

x Check out the very cool sign at the Hill Top Motel. Travelers on the Mother Road might well appreciate having a Laundromat right at the motel as well as 6 HBO and 4 ESPN channels on the TV and a micro wave in the room, and let's not forget the internet.

Compare that to the Heated Pool, Air-Conditioned Rooms, Room Phones Free TV, Thermostat Controlled Heat In-Room Coffee mentioned on an early postcard.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
