The El Trovatore Autel Court opened in 1939 and later became the El Trovatore Motel. It started with 30 units and later more were added. The Trovatore Cafe & Coffee Shop was located on the hill south of the motel as was an earlier 1937 Chevron Station.

The El Trovatore tower sign stands out on the skyline. The motel is down the hill from the highway, so the signs are important to help find it. In the early 2000s the motel had shifted to long term rentals, but switched back to daily rentals in 2011 when it began a renovation. The tower sign was relit in 2012 after being dark for many m years. Several murals have been painted on the property in the last several years.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
