The Hillcrest Motel opened in 1935 with 16 rooms. It has apparently been remodeled/renovated more than once. By 2015 the former motel appeared to be more of a long term rental housing business. The sign has changed styles and locations more than once too.

x The canopy across the front of the guest rooms originally was a series of short canopies each spanning just the doors for two rooms. The motel was promoted as being owner operated and having air-cooled rooms with tile baths and wall to wall carpeting.

x Until it closed in early 2015 the Ruby's Kitchen restaurant occupied what was originally the location of the motel office, that space has been heavily modified since it was first built. While it operated the restaurant featured a Pakistani and Indian style menu.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
