Taxidermist Dean Eldredge built a log cabin and opened it in 1931 to show his display of mounts After he died it was turned into a nightclub in 1936 and it became a country music showcase in the 1960s.

The exterior walls are made using Ponderosa Pine logs that averaged 12 - 16 inches in diameter and were chinked with Portland cement. The full width front porch was enclosed in the mid-1940s to accommodate a growth in business. There were living quarters were on the second floor. The building was structurally rehabilitated in the late 1980s and early 1990s resulting in it being awarded the 1993 "Mayor's Award for Historic Preservation".

The club closed in 2017 but the building and sign were still there. The business apparently reopened in 2018, but I'm not sure of its current status.

The odd looking structure framing the front entrance is an 11.5 by 9.5 foot inverted fork from a Ponderosa pine tree. A small sign above the fork announces the business was "Est. 1931" date. I don't know what the sculpture on the top of the fork is. The building has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1994.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
