In the 1920s this was Winchester Dickerson's "Northern Arizona Commercial Company: General Merchandise" store. That was the first business to occupy this building. When these photos were taken in 2013 it was a Methodist Church. In between is served as the Arizona Cafe for several years beginning in 1935, and became Ida's Cafe after that. The cafe had a wide neon sign where the church name is in this photo. They also had a roof top "Cafe" sign as well as a large vertical "Cocktails" sign on the front of the building.

x The stone panels on the side and front have Native American symbols built into them. Here's a closer look at a couple of the panels and the symbols they display.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
