East < GO > West

Jack Rittenhouse mentioned this little roadside pincic area in his 1946 "A Guide Book to Highway 66". It has several picnic tables and sits in the "Wye" at the intersection of Route 66 and Hwy 281where 281 turns south towards I-40. Stay right to continue on 66. The park is just past Hinton Junction Cafe and Courts which is on the north side of the road and easy to miss (I did) coming from the east.

xThere are some pavillions in the liitle roadside park for those who would like to rest a bit or enjoy a picnic lunch.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
