The original Avant's Cities Service Station was built in 1933. The Cities
Service logo would have been displayed where the blue WBC logo is in this
photo. Originally a Cities Service station, it also switched to Phillips
66 and Texaco as time went on.
When we were there it was being used by WBC Rental Center. It was added
to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
