The 1936 Lake Junction Station & Garage, Afton, OK was also known as Deadman's Corner Gas Station. The station is mostly hidden behind trees and shrubs. It is located on the curve at dead man's Corner (Where Hwy. 60/69 intersects with Hwy. 85) about 7 miles west of Afton proper.

x Two columns still stand in front of the station. I'm not sure if those were canopy supports or light columns. I tend to think they supported a canopy over the pumps because of the roof line on the remaining building, gable in front, hip style in back.

At one time there was a roadside park across the curve from the station.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
