Stateline Cafe & Texas Longhorn MotelMain St. Route 66, Glenrio, TXPhone:
The 1955 Texas Longhorn Motel behind the cafe and gas station consists of two buildings arranged in a "U" shape behind the Stateline Cafe/Gas Station. An "L" shaped building contained 13 guest rooms. The other building, on the far right in this photo, contained the office and later served as a private residence after the motel closed. During the 1930s there were no bars on the Texas side since the county was dry and no service station on the New Mexico side because of the state's higher gasoline tax.

The
1953 Stateline Cafe and Gas Station was owned and operated by Homer
Ehresman until the mid 1970s.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
