This is the old Rattle Snake Trading Post, it was formerly the Brock Trading Post. Jake and Maxine Atkinson bought the place from Victor Holmes in 1945 and changed the name to the Rattlesnake Trading Post.. At the time there were gas pumps out front, to which the Atkinson's reportedly tied burros to attract the attention of passing tourists. There was a cafe on the east (left in this photo) end of the building. Of course there were actual rattlesnakes on display which probably brought great joy, or great trepidation to visitors young and old alike. The Adkinson's didn't hang on to the place long, in 1951 they sold it to Maxine's sister who kept the the name, but apparently dumped the snakes.

It is located about a mile west of Bowlin's Trading Post. The front of this building has been significantly modified over the years with changes in the placement of doors and windows.

x The sign on the end of the building says "Welcome to Paradise Acres, $100.00 Down - Terms", with an "office" arrow pointing to the building behind this one.

x Above the light colored part of the front of the building part of a faded "Rattle Snakes" sign is visible.
