1933 Pecos River Bridge

Route 66 (N. Frontage Rd.), San Jose, NM
Phone:

East < GO > West

This bridge may be closed and may have been replaced by a new bridge!
The 1933 - 1937 alignment is the north frontage road here. You'll go over the Pecos River Bridge on this alignment of 66 and then very soon take a left turn onto B410 to get to San Jose. You'll go through a narrow tunnel under I-40 on your wat to San Jose.

GPS: 35.402940, -105.475492

xThe bridge was over 80 years old and looked like it needed some love from the Bridge Lovers Brigade when we went by in 2015. It seems like it was getting some of that love in the spring of 2021, so you might have to take I-25 from exit 323 to 319 and backtrack east to get to San Jose.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
