The 1880s Nuestra Senora de Luz (Our Lady of Light Catholic) Church & Cemetery are just a short distance south of the I-25 exit 294 on the east frontage road. This is a dead end road, so large vehicles may have trouble turning around.

The adobe walls of this small church are about 22 inches thick and coated with concrete stucco on outside and plaster inside. A low stone wall runs along the front of the property.

xThe small sacristy on the west side of the church was added in the 1920s. The cemetery wraps around the the church to include the west, north and east sides of the site. The little church was placed on NRHP in 1995

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
