The 7131 foot high Bernal Hill, also known as Starvation Peak, can
be seen in the background. .Bernal Hill served as a landmark for travelers
on the Santa Fe Trail. I'll let the postcard below give a look into
how the mountain came to be called Starvation Peak.

bell is located next to the church, the rope to ring it is hanging in
the upper left corn of the "window".

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
