In 1940 Colonel Dick Durand built this building for his Standard Oil (Chevron) Service Station. This was a full service operation with mechanical repairs for all types of cars.

They also sold Goodyear tires and batteries and Marathon tires. If your car broke down along the road, Durand could send his tow truck to haul it to the garage. If your car was beyond hope, you could always buy one of the used cars he had for sale right there at the garage.

In 1945 Under the name Durand Tractor and Equipment Corporation they began Allis-Chalmers and later Ferguson farm tractors and implements. By 1971 Durand was a Landrover sales and service shop.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
