Elijah Thomas Webb, the wealthy son of the towns founder, had this home built for his family in about 1891. His father John C. Webb died in 1883 and left some of his mineral rich land to E. T. as well his interest in the Webb City Bank. E. T. Webb stii owned this house when he died in 1936. The house face Liberty at the intersection with Route 66.

The gazebo in the back yard is a much later addition to the property. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
