The road on the left is Gravois Avenue, the original alignment of the
Mother Road at this point. The former St. Clair Motel still stands about
1/2 mile west from this point.. The abandoned road on the right used
to lead to the on/off ramps for to the 1950s 4 lane, which is now largely
under I-44 in this area.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
