The 1940s Delta Motel started out in this building with 9 guest rooms,
a restaurant and the office. . Two other buildings were added at a later
date bringing the room count to 40. In later years the motel operated
as the Park Inn 66. The
pool out by the road was fenced off and rather sad looking when we went
by. One of the later buildings can be seen in this photo. The motel was
closed when we went by in 2012. It is just a bit south of the Jesse
James Museum on the I-44 east frontage Rd at exit 230.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
