This is a half-scale partial reconstruction of Stonehenge in Salisbury
Plain, 75 miles Southwest of London. This replica was built using the
university's high pressure water jet carving system. It took a month to
carve using this high tech system and was dedicated on June 20, 1984 which
was the summer solstice. In that same year the University of Missouri-Rolla
received an award from the National Society of Professional Engineers
for this project.
If you continue past Vichy Rd on 66 you can see the Stonehenge on the
east side, but there's no place to park.
DIRECTIONS: To get to the parking area follow these directions:
Turn south on Vichy Rd. the take the first right onto St. Patricks Ln.
Go straight to the end and left into the Stonehenge parking lot by the
observatory.

Adjacent
to the Stonehenge replica is the 1973 Missouri University of Science
and Technology observatory (next to the parking lot). The observatory
houses a 16-inch diameter telescope. The observatory is open to the
public on limited hours throughout the semester.
