In 1924 John & Belva Henson built this large cobblestone commercial
building. On the ground floor there was a store, restaurant and a barber
shop. The second floor had six hotel guest rooms.. It is now a private
residence.
A full width porch on the front of the building has been removed. The
town of Phelps is located on the old Carthage-Springfield Road at the
time of the Civil War.
