Jerry and Betty Miller bought and erected their stone fronted World War II surplus Quonset hut around 1950 and used it for their laundromat and dry cleaning business. In 1962 Norbert Funke opened a photo studio in the building. After that the building became a restaurant operated under various names including DJ's Cafe, Monroe's Diner, Down South Cafe and most recently (2017) as Graze. Graze operates as a food truck and catering business.

x It's kind of uncommon to find the Quonset hut style building used in a modern food service application. It's a small structure with only 960 square feet of floor space.
x The modern Monroe's Diner sign was still standing out front in 2016 making it easy to spot the cafe. As of 2018 I believe it has been replaced by a sign for the current occupant of the building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
