Formerly the Cave Cafe, it was built in the late 1920s or early 1930s and named for the caves across the road. The original owner was Jm Daley and beside the cafe and service station there was a six unit motel next door. The motel was later used as housing for cafe employees.

Ralph Martin owned the Cave from 1943 to 1987 and at one time sold Gulf gas. In 1951 the cafe, station and motel were up for advertised as being available for lease. The service bays were reportedly added in the early 1960s. In 2018 it looked like it was empty.

The Ozark Rock faced building had four Gulf gas pumps in front of it. The old service bay doors have been filled in. It was also known as Dittmer Motor, Landmark Motor Company and Cave Station, The motel building no longer exists.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
