The Fanning 66 Outpost stands near where the old Fanning General Store stood from 1930 to 1972 and which was demolished in 1980. It is located 4 miles west of Cuba on Route 66 (Hwy. ZZ).

Next door the Speedway Garage was built and in 1935 it was remodeled into a tavern. Over the years it served a number of different uses before closing and later being rehabbed into the Fanning 66 Outpost by new owners. It closed again in August 2016, but has since reopened with new set of owners.

Something was needed to get the attention of the Route 66 travelers so they built this huge rocking chair in 2008. It is 42 feet tall and 20 feet wide. The Guinness Book of World Records Certified it as the biggest in 2008, stop in and see if you agree. Biggest or not, it's one huge rocking chair. . Between 2012 and 2016 the rocker was repainted changing the main color from white to red.

Cool mural on the west side of the building in 2016.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
