Relax! This is a WATER tower, so don't get your hopes up :) It may be that this is the only town named for Bourbon whiskey. It got the name because the railroad workers and loval folks were fond of a new whiskey called Bourbon that Richard Turner was selling at his general store.

The water tower is on the North I-44 Service Rd about 1/2 mile north of exit 218. There is another more modern water tower is located right near exit 218.

x The no longer in use water tower was built in 1925.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
