This little concrete block station was built around 1950. At some point
it was owned and operated at one time by Hollis Hillhouse, exactly when
I'm not sure about. It was one of six gas stations within one mile of
Albatross. I like the corner windows and symmetrical design of this building.
Both sets of windows feature 12 panes on the front and on the sides. Fire
destroyed an earlier station on this site. It is located on the east side
of town on Hwy. 96, north side between Cty. Rd 1140 & 1135.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
