This little concrete block station was built around 1950. At some point it was owned and operated at one time by Hollis Hillhouse, exactly when I'm not sure about. It was one of six gas stations within one mile of Albatross. I like the corner windows and symmetrical design of this building. Both sets of windows feature 12 panes on the front and on the sides. Fire destroyed an earlier station on this site. It is located on the east side of town on Hwy. 96, north side between Cty. Rd 1140 & 1135.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
