The Lincoln Depot opened in 1911 for the Chicago & Alton Railroad. It later was serviced by the GM&O Railroad. The station was used by the public until 1972, it was renovated five years later and used as a restaurant until 2011. Today you can catch the Amtrak high speed rail there.

The Depot is located on Chicago Street on the north side of Broadway at the Memorial Park and just across the the train tracks from the bank that houses the statue of Abraham Lincoln.

The town of Lincoln was christened by Abraham Lincoln at this site in 1853 by buying a watermelon, cutting it open and squeezing the juice on the ground.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
