This restaurant is located on what was the trail of the Black Hawk Indians. As their hunting and war parties passed by here on their way to and from Lake Michigan.they often encountered the large packs of wolves that roamed the area. Those wolves account for the name of the restaurant. Al Capone and some of his associates are reported to have visited the golf course across Wolf Rd from the restaurant.

I haven't been inside, you can only stop to eat so often, but the walls inside are reportedly home to a lot of interesting memorabilia.

An interesting side note here is that Joliet Road is also known as the Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail. The canal connected the east coast to the Gulf of Mexico by connecting Lake Michigan to the Illinois River which then connected to the Mississippi River.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
