The 1915 John P. Gillett Arch Bridge was commissioned by former Illinois
First Lady Emma Gillett Oglesby in 1915 as a memorial to her brother.
It is one of only two privately owned bridges in Illinois. It replaced
an 1899 wood bridge in this spot.
A wrought Iron gate blocks access to the bridge from the south end of
the bridge in the Elkhart Cemetery.
