The 1892 Tunnell Building has seen a variety of business tenants over
the years. According to the Madison County Historical Society the Imbers
Menswear store stayed from 1936 to 2012. Rays Super IGA Market occupied
part of the first floor here from 1944 to 1957 when he sold the business
to Leu's IGA. Leu's stayed until 1966 when he moved across the street
to the first floor of the old Opera House.
It's
pretty hard to read, but the Tunnel Building name can be seen at the
top of the building.
