This is the Joseph Hotz house that George Cathcart purchased in 1922 and
operated as a tourist home. A few years later he expanded nextdoor by
opening a tiny hamburger and ice cream stand that eventually grew into
Cathcart's Cafe Grocery. The cafe building was torn down in 1999
Still
later he built tourist cabins and sold the Cathcart Tourist Home and
Cabins to the Goddard family. They operated the Goddard's Tourist Home
from 1932 - 1954 from this location.
Some
of those tourist cabins still exist behind the main house.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
