Fedderson's Pizza Garage and Smaterjax Grill & Pizzeria are a couple of businesses that have occupied this old automobile garage at various times since the car dealers vacated it.

In the 1950s Feddersen's Pizza Garage might have been the Fedderson Sales and Service Oldsmobile dealership in Dwight. Some sources say it was Buick dealership, but old city directories show the Boyer Bros. Garage, a Buick dealer, on S. Franklin St. in downtown.

Some of the confusion may come from a photo of the Fedderson Pizza Garage with an old Buick sign on the front. The sign is long gone now, but wasn't in a location where you'd be likely to find it on an operating garage.

xThe building is located at Chippewa & Old Route 66 a block or so south of Ambler's Texaco. I'm guessing that as a car dealership building there were large windows on the front and north (right) side of this portion of the building, which would have been the showroom. The garage door near the front corner supports that idea, it would provide direct drive in access to the showroom.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
