This cafe was featured in the 1987 movie "Bagdad Cafe" which required a temporary name change for the movie. Before and after the movie it was the Sidewinder Cafe. It was built in 1975 and changed hands several times before the Pruett's purchased it in 1995. The 1987 movie "Bagdad Cafe" featured the cafe and adjacent Henning Motel. It wasn't until the Pruett's bought the place that the name was permanently changed to the "Bagdad Cafe"

x There wasn't enough room on the walls for all the memorabilia here, so the ceiling was pressed into service. I guess that the movie "Bagdad Cafe" is a bit of a cult film in France. You have to be there when a busload of French tourists invade the place to really understand how excited they are to visit the cafe, it's a wonderful experience.

x A simple sign proclaims the name and business hours.

x This is the trailer that Jack Palance stayed in when playing Rudi Cox in the movie, Bagdad Cafe. Time hasn't been kind to it so a little sprucing up, might be in order.

Here's a look at the Henning Motel sign from the window of Jack Palance's trailer.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
