This vintage motel has been serving customers since 1948, all under the same name, but not the same owners. The motel is about three miles from the Santa Anita Race Track. It was built by K. H. Hanks built the motel for Richard Roessler at a cost of about $40,000.00. They added swimming pool in 1951. In 1959 the rates were from $8.00 to 15.00 per night, depending on how many guests or from $56.00 to 70.00 per week for two people.

xThere's a cool vintage sign here that rather quaintly promotes "Color TV" as a feature. A permit to build an $850.00 neon sign was issued in 1954, if this is that sign the color TV sign must have been added later.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
