Oak Park Motel
926 E. Huntington Dr.
Phone:
This vintage motel has been serving customers since 1948, all under the
same name, but not the same owners. The motel is about three miles from
the Santa Anita Race Track. It was built by K. H. Hanks built the motel
for Richard Roessler at a cost of about $40,000.00. They added swimming
pool in 1951. In 1959 the rates were from $8.00 to 15.00 per night, depending
on how many guests or from $56.00 to 70.00 per week for two people.
There's
a cool vintage sign here that rather quaintly promotes "Color TV"
as a feature. A permit to build an $850.00 neon sign was issued in 1954,
if this is that sign the color TV sign must have been added later.
