Double Six Station

16102 E Route 66, Truxton, AZ
Phone:x

East < GO > West

There's no hint of signage to help determine what brand of gas was sold here and I've only found one source that identified the building, and that is as the Double Six Station. That source is an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality form that refers to the same address as that on the building. The building dates to about 1960 according to the 2012 Route 66 in Arizona survey.

xThe only vestige of signage on the building is the word Truxton partially visible above the windowless walk-in door toward the east end of the front.

xThe gas pump island at this old gas station & garage were between the two small windmills seen in this photo.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
