There is a small pull out on the north side of Exit 311 that features the Petrified National Park sign. Nice place to stop for a photo op.

Just up the road a very short distance you come to the Visitor Center. There is also a large restaurant and gift shop in the adjacent building. That restaurant became a Fred Harvey restaurant in 1963 when the Painted Desert Inn closed for several years.
