The Route 66 Motel is the former 25 unit Pony Soldier Motel, which opened in 1963. Unlike many smaller vintage motels this one still has its kidney shaped swimming pool tucked into a corner of the parking lot. located at 2939 E. Andy Devine Ave.

The
sign is originally except for the name change. The little 66 shield
was originally a small pony soldier face. The swoopy arrow is lit with
neon and incandescent bulbs surround the name, the letters of which
are outlined in neon..
Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
