I haven't been able to find much about this building. I think this was originally a contractors shop/storage building, maybe dating back to the 1920s. In 1951 it was advertised as "sell, trade or lease 20x50 store building 4 sale $4,500". In 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Smith were running a furniture auction business here. I 1954 someone applied for a permit to convert the building for use as a church and it was for sale again in 1957.

xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
