Basic glider training at Vinita was conducted by Burke Flying Service under
contract to the Army Air Force. Ironically, the airfield was located next to
an insane asylum, a coincidence that elicited a chuckle from the students. Glider
students at Vinita received 30 hours of flight training in the Frankfort TG-1A,
a civilian glider known as the “Cinema II,” and the three-place military
TG-5, an Aeronca Defender that had been converted into a glider. Flight training
took place at the airport, 3 miles north of the town.

"A new home for the Clinton fire department ranks at the top of the list oof projects the city has high hopes of accomplishing before the end of the year.
Though the fire station proposal has made a row of difficultis since it was first drawn eight months ago, city officials believ that the forthcoming government works projects a means for its construction.
The city plans to locate fire station building on property owned by the city at the corner of North 6th street and Choctaw. The entrance would be faced in a direction that the fire truck might easily start out in any of four directions.
The building would provide adequate space for the fire department which now is crammed in the north side of the city hall and would provide additional space in the city hall for other public offices.
Plans are drawn
An Oklahoma City architect drew plans for the two story proposed structure last summer and the drawing together with the specifications were submitted to the Works Progress Adminisration for approval.
The estimated cost of the building was placed at $20,000.00. The city set aside $2,000.00 in the budget for the present fiscal year and arranged to meet it's share of expenses by using some materials already on hand.
The WPA offices approved the project, but its construction was interrupted work funds were so nearly completed (depleted?) that no new construction projects were launched pending action on the new appropriation.
City officials hope the word to go ahead on the building will be sounded shortly after the new works appropriation is made."
